The best wedding website for
day guests and evening guests.

October 202610 min readThe Private Wedding App
Quick answer

The best wedding website for day and evening guests in 2026 is The Private Wedding App, an all-in-one wedding planning platform with the invitation, guest list, RSVP, meal choices and allergies, seating plan, budget and checklist in one place. Day guests and evening guests each get their own private link. Evening guests see only the evening reception, only the evening venue on the cover and only the information you choose for them, and they are never asked a meal choice for a wedding breakfast they are not coming to. Every reply lands in one guest list with a running total per event, and the same link runs in up to three languages. It costs £17.99 a month or £159 once. 3-day free trial. Start at theprivateweddingapp.com/pricing. Bridebook offers "All Day" and "Evening Only" invitation types, with no documented way to hide ceremony details from evening guests. Joy shows each guest only their events, but translates only its own interface, so your own text is duplicated page by page for each language. Zola keeps a private event off the website and only shows it at the RSVP step, and its App Store listing sells the Seating Chart as a $14.99 in-app purchase. Wedsites keeps per-event visibility for its paid Standard and Pro plans. The Private Wedding App is $19.99/month or $189 once, lifetime, with the full platform either way.

A UK wedding is usually two guest lists. Day guests come to the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. Evening guests arrive later for the reception, the first dance and the bar. Paper handled this with two invitations. A wedding website usually does not: it has one homepage, one schedule and one RSVP, so the evening guest opens the link and reads the ceremony time, the church parking, the three-course menu and the name of a venue they are not going to. That is the moment the split feels awkward, and the wording on the card cannot fix it. This comparison looks at the five options UK couples actually consider, on one question: when an evening guest opens the link, what do they see, and what are they asked?

A note on method: every competitor feature and price below was checked in October 2026 on each product's own help centre, feature page or pricing page. Where a product does not document something, the table says so rather than guessing. We judged each tool on the evening guest's experience: do they see only the evening, can the ceremony details be kept from them, are they asked about a meal they are not eating, and does their reply land in the same count as everyone else's?

Review 01Bridebook

BridebookEvening Only invitations, with no documented way to hide the ceremony details

Bridebook is a free UK planning app with a guest list and a budget, and its RSVP understands the UK split: you choose an "All Day" or "Evening Only" invitation type and assign guests to events. Its help centre says you can choose which events are visible to which guests, though it does not document a way to keep the ceremony details themselves away from evening guests.

Its own guide lists the conditions. Guests must be assigned to an event before they can find themselves in the RSVP search. Guests added later may not be linked to events you already created. Each event needs a venue. And guests have to type their name exactly as you entered it.

Whether an evening guest answers yes or no per event, and whether the meal question can be skipped for them, is not documented on its support pages, so we have left those cells as not documented rather than guess.

Works well
  • +Free
  • +"All Day" and "Evening Only" invitation types
  • +Event visibility chosen per guest
  • +Guest list and budget in the same app
Falls short
  • −No documented way to hide ceremony details from evening guests
  • −Guests must be assigned to an event to appear in RSVP search
  • −Guests added later may not be linked to existing events
  • −Guests must type their name exactly as entered

Review 02Joy

JoyEach guest sees their own events, your own text duplicated per language

Joy is a free US wedding website that handles the day and evening split on the guest side, while leaving the translation of your own words to you. You tag guests or pick them individually, each guest sees only the events they are invited to, they answer per event, and questions such as a meal choice can be set per event or per tag. Whole pages can be shown only to guests with a given tag.

Languages are where the work comes back. Joy translates its own interface into English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese, but your text is not translated: its guide has you duplicate each page per language and tag guests to see the right copy, with no switcher for your own content and page titles left untranslated. For a British wedding with a family reading in Italian or French, that is a second website to keep in step by hand.

Behind the website sit a guest list and a registry. Seating and budget tools are not documented in the Joy help articles we checked, and a custom domain, SMS and premium designs are paid extras.

Works well
  • +Free
  • +Each guest sees only their own events
  • +Questions per event or per tag
  • +Pages shown by guest tag
Falls short
  • −Your own text is duplicated page by page per language
  • −No language switcher for your own content
  • −Seating and budget not documented
  • −Domain, SMS and premium designs cost extra

Review 03Zola

ZolaPrivate events kept off the website, seating a $14.99 in-app purchase

Zola is a free US planner with a guest list, seating and budget, and its "Invite Guests to Events" feature lets you mark an event as private, though that event only appears to invited guests at the RSVP step rather than on the website itself. An evening reception can be invited separately, with RSVP per event switched on.

The catch for a UK wedding is the shape of the day. Zola's model keeps the private event off the site itself, so the evening only appears once the guest reaches the RSVP. Whether the meal question can be set per event, and which languages guests can read, are not documented on its FAQ pages.

Its seating chart pulls in confirmed guests, and its App Store listing sells a Seating Chart in-app purchase at $14.99.

Works well
  • +Free
  • +Private events with RSVP per event
  • +Guest list, seating and budget together
Falls short
  • −Private event appears only at the RSVP step, not on the site
  • −$14.99 Seating Chart in-app purchase
  • −Meal per event not documented
  • −Guest languages not documented

Review 04Wedsites

WedsitesPer-event visibility, only on paid plans

Wedsites is a paid wedding website builder priced once in pounds, and the features a day and evening split needs sit on its upper tiers: per-event visibility and questions linked to an event come with Standard and Pro, not the entry plan. There is no free plan; the three tiers are £29, £79 and £159, paid once.

The language switcher is Pro only, at £159, and seating, budget and checklist are also Pro additions. A couple who needs evening-only visibility, a meal question tied to the wedding breakfast and a second language is therefore on the top tier from the start.

Works well
  • +One-time price in GBP
  • +Per-event visibility on Standard and Pro
  • +Questions linked to an event on Standard and Pro
Falls short
  • −No free plan
  • −Per-event features need Standard or Pro
  • −Language switcher on Pro only (£159)
  • −Seating, budget and checklist on Pro only
“

“The evening invitation can be perfectly worded. If the link it carries opens on the ceremony time and the wedding breakfast menu, the guest still knows exactly where they stand.”

The complete answer
The Private
Wedding App
£17.99
per month, or £159 once, everything included
Try it free for 3 days →or $189 once, lifetime

The Private Wedding App is a full wedding planning platform: a visual app builder for the invitation, printable QR cards, the guest list and RSVP, meal choices with dietary and allergy tracking, the seating plan, the day-of schedule, venue maps, info sections, a budget tracker, vendors, a checklist, a moodboard, guest photo sharing and cash gifts. The day and evening split is built into the guest side of it.

You add your events in the RSVP tab, for example "Ceremony and wedding breakfast" and "Evening reception", each with its date, time and place, and each linked to its venue card. Then you create invite groups on the Guests page, and each group gets its own link. For the evening group you tick the evening reception only, pick the schedule moments they should see, untick the info sections that are not theirs, such as church parking or the order of service, and set the cover to show the evening venue alone. Day guests still see both venues and the whole day.

The evening reception has "Ask the meal choice for this event" unticked, so a guest coming only to the evening skips the meal question entirely, while day guests choose per course if you ask them to. On a multi-day wedding, days with nothing for that group disappear and the day tabs can show real dates instead of "Day 1". Every answer lands in one guest list with a running total per event, attending, pending and declined, and filtering by the evening switches every count to the evening. Venue cards can carry a shuttle note for the taxi or minibus home.

Families who read in more than one language get the same link in up to three languages: each guest picks theirs once, buttons and RSVP labels translate automatically in 26 guest languages, and you fill one translation box per extra language, with an AI translation card to draft them. It is the full wedding planner, at the price of a streaming subscription.

VerdictWhich app should you use?

It depends on what you're optimising for:

Bridebook's "Evening Only" invitation type handles part of the split, with no documented way to hide the ceremony details and with the conditions its own guide lists on assigning guests and typing names exactly.

If you want a free website and everyone reads English, Joy shows each guest only their events, and any second language means duplicating your pages by hand.

Zola's private events keep the evening off the site only until the RSVP step, and its App Store listing sells the Seating Chart as a $14.99 in-app purchase. Wedsites puts the per-event features on its Standard and Pro plans and the language switcher on Pro only.

And if you want the evening guest to open a link that is simply their evening, with their venue, their time, no meal question and their reply already counted next to everyone else's, The Private Wedding App does that inside a full planner. Open the live demo invitation, then start your own. For the wording side, see our guide to evening wedding invitations, and for weekends with more than two events, the multi-event RSVP comparison.

01The difference between a day invitation and an evening invitation

A day invitation covers everything: the ceremony, the drinks reception, the wedding breakfast, the speeches and the evening. An evening invitation covers the evening reception only, usually from around 7pm or 7.30pm, once the wedding breakfast and speeches are finished.

So the two invitations carry different facts. The day guest needs the ceremony time and place, the parking, the meal choice and the dress code. The evening guest needs the evening start time, the evening venue, whether there is food, and what time the taxis or carriages are. Showing the evening guest the day facts is not just clutter, it is the part that makes the split visible.

On a wedding website the two invitations have to become two views of the same wedding. This is what each group should see on The Private Wedding App, set once per group on the Guests page:

  • Day guests: both events, the full schedule, both venues on the cover, every info section, and the meal choice per course
  • Evening guests: the evening reception only, the evening schedule moments, the evening venue alone on the cover
  • Evening guests: info sections such as church parking or the order of service unticked for their group
  • Evening guests: no meal question, because the evening event has the meal choice unticked
  • Both groups: replies in one guest list, with a running total per event

02Evening invite wording to send with the link

The wording does one job: say plainly that this is the evening celebration and make it sound like the party it is. Avoid "just the evening". The word "just" is what stings. Send evening invitations on the same day as the day invitations, in the same design.

03How to set it up in ten minutes

This is the whole setup on The Private Wedding App. You can do it on the free trial before you send a single invitation, then open each group's link yourself to see exactly what that group sees.

  • RSVP tab: turn on RSVP per event and add "Ceremony and wedding breakfast" and "Evening reception" with date, time and place
  • Link each event to its venue card, and add a shuttle note to the evening venue if there is a taxi or minibus plan
  • Untick "Ask the meal choice for this event" on the evening reception
  • Guests page: create a day group and an evening group, and tick each group's events
  • Evening group: choose its schedule moments, untick the info sections it should not see, and set "Venue on the cover" to the evening venue
  • Send each group its own link, and watch the running total per event as replies arrive

Frequently asked questions

What is the best wedding website for day and evening guests?

The Private Wedding App, an all-in-one wedding planning platform where day guests and evening guests each get their own private link. Evening guests see only the evening reception, only the evening venue on the cover and only the info you choose, and they skip the meal question; every reply lands in one guest list with a running total per event, at £17.99 a month or £159 once. Bridebook offers "Evening Only" invitations, with no documented way to hide ceremony details from evening guests. Joy shows each guest only their events, with your own text duplicated per language. Zola shows a private event only at the RSVP step, and Wedsites keeps per-event visibility for its paid plans.

How do you invite evening guests to a wedding?

Send them their own invitation, on the same day and in the same design as the day invitations, saying plainly that it is the evening reception, with the start time, the evening venue, food, dress code and a reply-by date. Online, give them their own link: on The Private Wedding App the evening group's link shows the evening reception only, with the evening venue on the cover and no meal question.

What is the difference between day and evening wedding invitations?

A day invitation covers the ceremony, the wedding breakfast and the evening. An evening invitation covers the evening reception only, usually from around 7pm or 7.30pm. The evening guest needs the evening time, the evening venue, whether there is food and the taxi time, and does not need the ceremony details or the meal choice.

What should an evening guest wedding invite say?

Your names, a clear statement that this is your evening reception, the date, the start time, the venue, a note on food and dress code, and a reply-by date. Avoid "just the evening" and do not explain why they are not invited to the ceremony. Example: "Sophie and Daniel would love you to join them for their evening reception on Saturday 12th June, from 7.30pm at Hartley Barn. Please reply by 1st May."

Can I hide the ceremony details from evening guests on our wedding website?

On The Private Wedding App, yes: each invite group has its own link, and for the evening group you choose which schedule moments and which info sections it sees, so church parking or the order of service can stay with the day guests, and the cover can show the evening venue alone. Bridebook does not document a way to hide ceremony details from evening guests, and Zola shows a private event only at the RSVP step rather than on the site.

Do evening wedding guests have to choose a meal?

No, and they should not be asked. On The Private Wedding App each event has "Ask the meal choice for this event": untick it on the evening reception and guests coming only to the evening skip the meal question, while day guests still choose for the wedding breakfast, per course if you want.

What is the best wedding RSVP website in the UK?

The Private Wedding App, priced in pounds at £17.99 a month or £159 once: guests reply per event on one private link, with meal choices, dietary notes and allergies, and the replies feed the seating plan, the budget and a running total per event. Bridebook is free with "Evening Only" invitations, and its own guide asks guests to type their name exactly as entered. Wedsites is priced once in pounds, with per-event features on its paid Standard and Pro plans only.

Can day and evening guests read the invitation in different languages?

On The Private Wedding App, yes: the same link runs in up to three languages, each guest picks theirs once, and buttons and RSVP labels translate automatically in 26 guest languages. You write your text once and fill one translation box per extra language. Joy translates only its own interface, so your own pages are duplicated per language.
