Joy's digital wedding invitations are free to send, with hundreds of designs and RSVPs that feed its guest list, but its premium digital cards come in bundles from 50 cards with no price on its pricing page, text delivery costs extra and works for US and Canadian numbers only, and a second guest language means building separate pages and RSVP questions by hand. The Private Wedding App is the more complete product: one invitation link where each guest picks their language, filled by one-click AI translation, RSVP with meals, allergies and plus-ones per event, and the guest list, seating chart, budget, vendors, checklist, AI assistant and cash gifts behind it. It costs $19.99/month or $189 once for the whole planner. 3-day free trial.
Joy is one of the names couples meet first when they look for wedding invitations online, so it deserves a precise review rather than a star rating. I read Joy's own invitation page, pricing page and help center on October 14, 2026, and wrote down what it does, what it costs and where it stops, with the source for each fact. Then I set it next to The Private Wedding App, the full wedding planner I make, so you can see the difference on the points that decide a wedding invitation: design, cost, RSVP, languages and what happens after guests answer.
What Joy's wedding invitations are
Joy offers three kinds of invitation, each with a limit stated on its own pages. Free digital cards: its invitation page says "hundreds of digital wedding invitation designs are available to send for free", with text delivery and premium designs sold separately. Premium Digital Cards with more font, photo and layout options, sold only in bundles from 50 cards. And printed 5x7 inch paper invitations, made by its print partner Paperlust, with one to two weeks for printing and delivery.
Its pricing page says "Joy is free to use" for the website, registry, unlimited guests and online RSVP, while custom domain names, text messaging and premium designs for digital and printed stationery are paid upgrades with no price shown on that page.
Every fact in this review comes from these pages, read on October 14, 2026: withjoy.com/pricing, withjoy.com/wedding-invitations, and the help center articles "Designing and sending Premium Digital Cards", "Setting up your website for guests in multiple languages" and the Cash Funds FAQ.
What Joy's invitations cost
Free digital cards cost nothing, but text delivery, premium designs and RSVP reminders by text are paid extras, detailed below.
Paper invitations are listed per card, with a total that is hard to read in advance: on October 14, 2026, designs showed "As low as $1.89" next to $1.51, without saying which is the current price, and no envelope price. Address printing is included, and printing and delivery generally take one to two weeks, per its page.
Premium Digital Cards have a minimum order of 50 cards, in bundles of 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1,000. Email delivery and a shareable link are included. Text delivery is an additional cost, for US and Canadian numbers only. Text blasts, RSVP reminders and hotel reminders need Messaging Plus, a separate purchase. Neither price appears on the pricing page.
RSVP and the guest list
Joy's invitation page says "our invites and RSVPs are connected straight to your guest list", with responses tracked across multiple events. Delivery tracking such as opens and clicks works for email and text delivery only, per its help center, so a card shared by link gives no open data.
The pricing page lists no seating chart and no budget tracker. So the RSVPs land in a guest list, and the next steps of the wedding, the table plan, the catering count and the budget, are not on that page.
On The Private Wedding App, the RSVP collects meals, allergies and plus-ones per event, and, when you switch it on, whether each guest is an adult, a child or an infant. The answers go to the guest list that feeds the seating chart and the budget, where the catering line is built from the guests who said yes.
Languages: where Joy stops for international weddings
This is the largest gap for couples with families in two countries. Joy's help article on guests in multiple languages describes a manual setup: tag each guest with a language, restrict each existing page to one tag, create a new page per language and write its content yourself, and create a separate version of each RSVP question per tag. Its globe switcher "switches Joy's menus, buttons, and interface", not the text you wrote, and the article says Joy "won't translate page titles automatically".
The same article notes that the default language also sets the event's currency and distance units, and the Cash Funds FAQ says the account currency "can't be changed after setup".
On The Private Wedding App, there is one invitation and one link. Each guest picks their language in a popup, among up to three of 26 languages, and the whole invitation switches: cover, RSVP, meal choices, schedule, venues, dress code, info pages and gifts. One-click AI translation fills every empty field and never overwrites a line you wrote. Every RSVP lands in one guest list, whatever the language.

Who The Private Wedding App is for
If the invitation is the first step of planning the whole wedding, the platform behind it matters more than the card. The Private Wedding App is a full wedding planner: the invitation and wedding website, RSVP, guest list, seating chart, budget, vendors, checklist, day schedule, guest photo sharing, cash gifts and an AI assistant that knows your real wedding data, one platform at the price of a Netflix subscription.
It is built for weddings across languages and countries: each guest reads the invitation in their own language, guests in different countries can be invited to different events, and gifts arrive in the currency you choose. It is a web app you can add to your phone's home screen.

The Private Wedding App includes the invitation, RSVP and the whole planner for $19.99/month or $189 once.
How much do Joy paper invitations cost?
On October 14, 2026, Joy's invitation page listed 5x7 paper invitations "as low as $1.89", shown next to $1.51 per card, without saying which applies, no envelope price on the page, and one to two weeks for printing and delivery. The Private Wedding App does not sell paper: the invitation, RSVP and the whole planner sit behind one link, with printable QR cards, for $19.99/month or $189 once.
How much do Joy premium digital invitations cost?
Joy's help center says Premium Digital Cards have a 50-card minimum, in bundles of 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1,000, with email included and text delivery extra; the price is not shown on its pricing page. On The Private Wedding App, the invitation is included in the planner, $19.99/month or $189 once, for any number of guests.
Is Joy good for wedding invitations?
Joy covers a free digital card and an RSVP linked to its guest list, with limits stated on its own pages: premium cards start at 50, text delivery is extra and US and Canada only, a second language is rebuilt by hand page by page, and no seating chart or budget is listed on its pricing page. The Private Wedding App answers each of those points in one planner, for $19.99/month or $189 once.
Can Joy send wedding invitations by text?
Only Premium Digital Cards, as a paid add-on, and only to US and Canadian numbers, per its help center. RSVP reminders by text need Messaging Plus, a separate purchase. On The Private Wedding App, you share one private link by WhatsApp, text or email, anywhere.
Does Joy track RSVPs?
Yes, its invitation page says RSVPs connect to its guest list across events, but open tracking works only for email and text delivery, not for a shared link. On The Private Wedding App, RSVPs also carry meals, allergies and plus-ones per event, plus adult, child or infant for each guest if you switch it on, and feed the seating chart and the budget.
Can Joy wedding invitations be in two languages?
Joy translates its own menus and buttons, and its help article asks you to tag each guest, duplicate each page and write each language version and RSVP question yourself. The Private Wedding App uses one link: each guest picks their language and the whole invitation switches, filled by one-click AI translation.
Does Joy have a seating chart and budget tracker?
Neither is listed on Joy's pricing page, read on October 14, 2026. The Private Wedding App includes a seating chart built from confirmed guests and a budget whose catering line comes from yes RSVPs.
What is the best alternative to Joy wedding invitations?
The Private Wedding App, a full wedding planner with the invitation built in: one link in each guest's language, RSVP with meals and allergies per event, guest list, seating, budget, vendors, checklist, AI assistant and cash gifts in ten currencies, for $19.99/month or $189 once. 3-day free trial.
Can Joy ship paper invitations internationally?
Joy's invitation page says prints from its partner Paperlust can be shipped internationally, with no shipping price listed and one to two weeks for printing and delivery. The Private Wedding App reaches guests in any country the moment you send the link, in each guest's own language, with printable QR cards for a paper touch.
